Invisalign & Braces
What is Invisalign?
Many people want straighter teeth, but they don’t want the ugly metal brackets and the discomfort that comes with traditional orthodontic work. If you fit this description, you may want to consider Invisalign.
Invisalign aligners are invisible, don't have any metal, and are molded just for your teeth.
Simply pop the trays in and you’re ready to go! No brackets are necessary. Invisalign aligners are perfect for both adults and teens who want a more discreet straightening option.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign works in a series of trays that gradually shift your teeth into place.
Each tray is manufactured so that the teeth are slightly straighter than the previous tray. Your teeth will typically move up to 0.25 mm per tray.
Every two weeks, you will receive a new set, slowly moving your teeth towards their ideal positions.
Although the advantage is that Invisalign is more comfortable and almost invisible, it will not work if the patient does not wear the aligner for the recommended time.
You must wear each aligner for at least 22 hours per day
Patients find that it is more comfortable and less painful than traditional braces
How do Braces work?
Traditional braces are brackets made of either metal or ceramic.
The brackets are glued to each tooth so that a wire can be placed and move your teeth.
Braces are great for teenagers and adults who do not want to deal with the hassle of Invisalign.
You may need to use rubber bands to assist with moving the teeth to an ideal position. Your doctor will let you know whether you need to wear them.
Brackets are traditionally the only way to straighten teeth. This has changed with Invisalign, but brackets are very effective at helping patients achieve a more beautiful smile.
